<title>CAVAL Employment conditions - status as at 24th April 2008</title>
<link>http://staff.caval.edu.au</link>
<description>
I note the memo provided by the CAVAL cataloguers and I want to reassure all staff that the Management Team of CAVAL has engaged a consultant to
examine the terms and conditions of CAVAL staff, especially the standing of 'casual' staff.

Unfortunately Alan Turnbull, the consultant, has been ill this past month and we have had to delay our discussions until next week when he will
make his first visit to CAVAL.

Just for clarification in the meantime, all staff at CAVAL are employed on a common law contract which generally reflects the terms and conditions
of employment included in the University of Melbourne Enterprise Agreement. However as a separate company, CAVAL can make exceptions to these provisions
but of course these must be specified and must of course be consistent with state and national legislation on employment.

Over the coming weeks I will be able to provide additional information and expect to offer to make changes to a number of existing arrangements at
CAVAL.

<title>Collaboration in the WorkPlace</title>

<description>
 by Shawn Callahan of Anecdote Pty Ltd

"Today we all need to be collaboration superstars. The trouble is, collaboration is a skill and set of practices we are rarely taught. It's
something we learn on the job in a hit-or-miss fashion. Some people are naturals at it, but most of us are clueless."
